The Design Process

AMERYOUN DESIGN GROUP understands the uniqueness of each space

Although each job is different we follow the same methodical approach or deign

process for each individual project.

The following is a summary of the design process which is separated into six

phases.  Each phase is accompanied by scheduled meetings with both client

and designer present.

Synopsis

The first stage of the design process is an overview of the clients design

requirements.  A meeting will take place where the designer will interview the

client and perform a detail building/ space analysis.  The client’s budget is

determined, and general ideas of space usage and demands and timelines

will be discussed.  All information gathered at this stage is vital in the successful

completion of any project.

Programming

Based on the data collected in stage one, the designer will carefully analyze the activity requirements for the space.  The designer will program these requirements and translate these needs into coherent forms and charts, and integrate them in spatial context.  A program may contain an analysis of the space needs, adjacency requirements, organizing concepts, code restrictions, budget demands, and scheduling limitations.  The client will review the programming documents prior to commencement of any design work.

Planning

A proposed floor plan will be presented addressing space usage and demands.  The designer will carefully review each area with the client and the reason for its layout.  The designer will explain the flow and function of the space.

Design

After the clients approval of the final floor plan the design team will then present a finish selections board.  Working drawings and specifications are prepared to reflect the design.  These drawings convey the technical information required to create the designed space.  A working drawing package may include; demolition plans, partition plans, millwork plans, electrical and reflected ceiling plans, fire and safety plans, finish plans, and furniture plans. A letter of agreement is prepared outlining the scope of work, and costs of project.  The signed agreement accompanied by a deposit, required in order to commence any design work and implementation.

Construction Documentation

All design specifications needed for the construction of the project will be supplied including specification for all finishes and integrated design elements such as furniture and equipment.
